Vaibhav Suryavanshi: IPL’s Youngest Star Shines at Just 14!
From the fields of Samastipur to cricket’s grandest league, meet the teen sensation who stunned the world with a six on debut.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The 14-Year-Old Prodigy Making IPL History
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old cricketing sensation from Tajpur in Samastipur, Bihar, has taken the cricket world by storm. Making his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut with the Rajasthan Royals, he became the youngest-ever player to step onto the IPL stage — and he did it in style, smashing a six off the very first ball he faced.
His fearless knock of 34 runs off just 20 balls, including three sixes, drew instant attention — even Google CEO Sundar Pichai tweeted in awe. It was a bold statement from a teenager, not just playing among seasoned professionals but commanding the spotlight on one of cricket’s biggest stages.

Humble Beginnings
Born on March 27, 2011, Vaibhav hails from a modest farming family. His father, Sanjiv Suryavanshi, a small farmer in Bihar, recognized his son’s passion for cricket at the age of four. Determined to support his child’s dream, he made countless sacrifices — even selling a portion of their land to fund Vaibhav’s training, gear, and travel. That dedication is now paying off on a global stage.

Climbing the Ladder
Vaibhav began competing in age-group cricket early and quickly built a reputation as a rare talent. He scored a triple century in a Bihar U-19 tournament and made his first-class debut at just 12 in the Ranji Trophy — a record-setting feat.
He gained more international experience with India B’s U-19 team, where he made headlines by scoring a 58-ball century against Australia, followed by impressive knocks in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup, showing his composure and class.

IPL Breakthrough
In the IPL 2024 Auction, Rajasthan Royals picked up the then 13-year-old Vaibhav for ₹1.1 crore — a record for the youngest player ever signed in the league’s history.
On April 19, 2025, he made his much-anticipated debut against Lucknow Super Giants and didn’t disappoint. He announced himself to the world with a fearless start, and although his innings ended with a brilliant stumping by Rishabh Pant, the cricketing world had already taken notice.

A Star in the Making
Vaibhav’s batting style is aggressive and stylish — a mix that cricket fans love. Often compared to Brian Lara and Yuvraj Singh, he is a left-hander with a natural 360-degree game and the temperament to thrive under pressure.
At just 14, he’s already setting records, inspiring millions, and showing that age is just a number when talent meets determination.
